Life in Sandy TWP Area

Life in and around Sandy Township is very diverse, with a multitude of different things to do. A storied history of the region brought about the creation of the township. The area boasts a great regional hospital, a variety of secondary education colleges/universities, a school district that is not only a great place to learn but has a multitude of sports programs available, a private Catholic school district, a technical high school specializing in training for a career directly out of high school, many places for fine dining, a variety of shopping choices from plazas and a mall to the historic downtown DuBois, many places to stay the night including hotels and camping, recreational parks, lakes and streams, state parks as part of the PA Wilds, theaters, a bowling alley, Treasure Lake, even a regional airport, and much, much more.

We are home to a multitude of places to work. Our industrial roots are still strong with the Marcellus shale gas industry booming around Pennsylvania. The area plays host to a variety of industries and distribution centers who support the gas drilling efforts. Within our area is also located PA’s largest, independently owned textile services company, Paris Cleaners, serving the middle-Atlantic states with uniform services and healthcare linen services, since 1951. Domtar Paper Co. has been a longtime manufacturer of fine paper products. The company originally opened in 1848! Stella Jones has been supplying the rail road with quality ties for decades from our area, and just down the tracks from them Rescar has been keeping the trains rolling down the tracks for over 36 years. And Triangle Suspension Systems Inc. has been making suspension systems for the automobile industry since 1927 at its Maloney Road facility.
